Idiom and symbol



Idioms (phrases)
Idiom is an expression language in the form of a compound word (phrase) whose meaning has been fused and can not be interpreted with the meaning of the elements that make it up.

SYMBOL 
 

Etymologically the term "symbol" symbol is absorbed from the word in the English language that is rooted in the word symbolicum in Latin. While in the Greek language and symballo symbolon word, which is also the root symbol, has some generic meaning, namely "give the impression", "mean" and "interesting".
In the history of thought, the symbol has two meanings are very different. In the thought and religious practices, a common symbol on an aura of transcendent reality. In a system of logic and scientific reasoning, a term commonly used symbol in the sense of abstract marks. In some sense, "symbol" is defined as follows: 
1. The symbol is something that usually is a visible sign that replaces the idea or object. 
2. The symbol is the word, sign or gesture, which dgunakan to represent something else such as the meaning, quality, abstractions, ideas, and objects. 
3. The symbol is in any given meaning by the general consent or by agreement or custom.
In modern terminology often every element of a system of signs called symbol. Thus the people talking about symbolic logic. In the proper sense equivalent symbol image (image) and pointed to a sign of sensory and supraindrawi reality. Signs of sensory basically, have a certain tendency to depict reality supraindrawi. In a specific community direct sensory signs can be understood. For example, a stick symbolizes the supreme authority. If an object can not be understood directly and interpretation of these objects depend on complex thought processes, then people would prefer to speak allegorically.
